Android Q Beta for LG G8 ThinQ

 

Use the Q Beta to test your apps with the new features of Android Q. This way you can make sure your apps are compatible with Android's new upcoming version. This Android version is an early baseline build intended for developers only. Test, develop and send us your feedback in order to meet your needs. Get an overview of all the new features and learn how to get started for your LG G8 ThinQ.

New Features

Here are the new features and improvements of Android Q for you to try.

 

System-wide Dark Mode

The Android Q includes a system-wide dark mode which themes the notification shade, the actual notifications, the Settings app, and the entire SystemUI, and turns most UI elements from white to dark gray.

 

Dynamic Depth Format for Photos
Starting in Android Q, apps can request a Dynamic Depth image which consists of a JPEG, XMP metadata related to depth related elements, and a depth and confidence map embedded in the same file on devices that advertise support.

 

More Control over Location
With Android Q, the OS helps users have more control over when apps can get location.

 

Accessibility
The Android Q includes new accessibility options that have been added to extend the time you can read toast messages and how long you have to take actions on them.

Downloads

 

Before flashing your compatible LG G8 ThinQ device with Android Q Beta there are a few things you need to be aware of, so please read the following information carefully.

 

How to Flash Your Compatible LG G8 ThinQ Device

There is a single LG G8 ThinQ model number that can be flashed with Android Q Beta, LG G8 ThinQ.

Please do a factory reset of your device before you flash your device. The user data would have been erased regardless of this step but the device should be clean when installing the software.

 

Here’s How to Flash Your Device

Make sure you have LG Beta Downloader v1.0 or later installed on your computer(only supports Windows OS). If not, download the latest LG Beta Downloader from below.

 

Start LG Beta Downloader on your computer and follow the Instructions (Your device will be opted-in automatically).

You can return to factory settings/LG G8 ThinQ SW at any time by connecting back to LG Beta Downloader and following the Rollback Menu (You should accept the opt-out agreement).

Once you have flashed your device with the Q Beta software, all subsequent software releases will be provided with the same manner. See Latest updates & Known issues for more information.

 

If your phone stops responding or is stuck on a screen, press and hold the Power and Volume Down key for 10 seconds to restart the phone. For your protection, do not remove the battery from the phone. Removing the back cover or battery can lead to safety hazards.

Known Issues

 

2019-05-07: QKQ1.190406.002:

  • LG features are not applied
  • Camera has been implemented only with limited functionality
  • Can not recognize SD card over 32GB capacity
  • WiFi Hotspot does not work
  • Bluetooth headset voice call is not supported
  • Due to Q-OS compatibility issues, some apps on the Google Play might not work properly
